Inventor Keyseat iFeatures: design specifications were all taken from "The Machinery Handbook" to ensure Industry Standardization.
After the creation of a Tangent | Planar Parallel Work Plane, we proceed to insert the iFeature for a Rectangular keyseat with one round end for the proper shaft diameter. In this example, a 4.0" shaft.
Next, we select the Tangent | Planar Parallel work plane as the Sketch Plane for the iFeature, and rotate the iFeature to the proper orientation for the shaft.
We are then presented with the Model Parameters that define the iFeature, and they can be accepted as is, or individually modified.
We select to "Activate Sketch Edit Immediately".
Next, we "Project Geometry" of the shaft leading edge, and a Work Plane that is perpendicular to the sketch plane, and use "Colinear" constraints to fully constrain the iFeature sketch.
Once the iFeature sketch is fully constrained, we update the part.
Next, we turn off the "Visibility" of the Work Planes. You can obtain the Inventor iFeatures for free on our web! Please visit the Solids Modeling page for downloading, and usage instructions. |
