Inventor Files Readme

Place the Winzip file (Inventor_Files.zip) in the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 9\Catalog subdirectory.  Extract to the same subdirectory with the All Files, Overwrite Existing Files, and Use Folder Names options enabled.

Usage:

In the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 9\Catalog\Keyseats subdirectory, there are four subdirectories.

The 1_Rnd_Rect subdirectory contains rectangular keyseats with one round end, and one square end.

The 1_Rnd_Sq subdirectory contains square keyseats with one round end, and one square end.

The 2_Rnd_Rect subdirectory contains rectangular keyseats with two round ends.

The 2_Rnd_Sq subdirectory contains square keyseats with two round ends.

Place a Tangent, Planar Parallel Workplane on a cylindrical shaft.  Insert one of the Design Elements (range: 0.75”– 4.0” shaft diameters) onto the workplane.  Edit the inserted Design Element at sketch level.  Project a centerline, or Perpendicular Plane, and a Cylindrical Shoulder Edge onto the sketch plane, and fully constrain the sketch.  Edit the Key_Length parameter to the correct key length, and update the part.

In the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 9\Catalog\Keyways subdirectory, there are two subdirectories.

The Rectangular subdirectory contains rectangular keyseats with one round end, and one square end.

The Square subdirectory contains square keyseats with one round end, and one square end.

Insert one of the Design Elements (range: 0.75”– 4.0” bore diameter), and pick a flat face, or plane for placement.  Edit the inserted Design Element at sketch level.  Project geometry onto the sketch plane for constraining, or dimensionally constrain the sketch.  Edit the Bore_Depth parameter to the correct depth, and update the part.

In the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 9\Catalog\Retaining Ring subdirectory, there are two subdirectories.

The Internal subdirectory contains internal retaining ring grooves.

The External subdirectory contains external retaining ring grooves.

Insert one of the Design Elements (range: 0.5”– 3.5” bore/shaft diameters), and pick a plane that bisects the cylindrical bore/shaft, and passes through the center axis for placement.  Edit the inserted Design Element at sketch level.  Project a centerline, or Perpendicular Plane, and a Cylindrical Shoulder Edge onto the sketch plane, and fully constrain the sketch.  Edit the Edge_Margin parameter to the correct distance, and update the part.

In the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 9\Catalog\Splines subdirectory, there are four subdirectories.

The SAE_4_Spline subdirectory contains 4 point SAE Straight Internal Splines.

The SAE_6_Spline subdirectory contains 6 point SAE Straight Internal Splines.

The SAE_10_Spline subdirectory contains 10 point SAE Straight Internal Splines.

The SAE_16_Spline subdirectory contains 16 point SAE Straight Internal Splines.

Insert one of the Design Elements (range: 0.75”– 6.0” outside diameter, depending on number of spline points), and pick a flat face, or plane for placement.  Edit the inserted Design Element at sketch level.  Project geometry onto the sketch plane for constraining, or dimensionally constrain the sketch.  Edit the Spline_Depth parameter to the correct depth, and update the part.
